It has been a week since I arrived in Delhi, and I haven't heard from him since that night. Di told me he's been coming home late and leaving early for work, so I didn't want to disturb him with a call. Tomorrow, Di and Jiju will be visiting for her pagphera ceremony, and they'll stay for a few days. I'm excited to have them around.
Then we all would come to my house for a night stay. I had to persuade them to stay at my house because Mama wouldn't let me stay at theirs.
I was getting ready. I chose a short, vibrant kurti that paired perfectly with flared jeans. It was comfortable yet stylish for the outing we had planned. To complete the look, I wore small silver jhumkas and added a tiny black bindi. I pulled my hair into a small bun, leaving a few strands to frame my face. Finally, I slipped on my favorite pair of sneakers, adding a modern touch to the traditional look.
Once I was ready, I booked a cab and headed to Adi's room to let him know I was leaving. I found him on a call, probably chatting with one of his friends. When he saw me, I whispered, "Adi, I'm going out now. I'll be back by 9 or 9:30."
He nodded and replied, "Just remember to share your location with me, okay?"
I gave him a thumbs-up in agreement, and headed downstairs. In the living room, Maa and Papa were enjoying their evening tea, a peaceful and familiar scene that I had missed in Delhi. I approached Papa and said, "Papa, I'm going now."
Papa looked up with a gentle smile. "Okay, dhyaan se jaana"
Maa joined in, "Jaldi aana"
"Alright!" I replied, reassured by their warmth. I stepped outside quickly as the cab had already arrived, waving bye before getting in.
🌸
I arrived at the fair and saw Isha and Gauri already waiting for me near the panipuri stall. I approached them quickly, and we shared a group hug.
"Ishu said excitedly, "Finally, yaar! Itne dinon baad ham sab saath ghumne aaye hain. I was missing this a lot!"
"Really?" Gauri replied, smiling.
"Accha, chalo, now let's not waste time and panipuri se shuru karte hain!" I suggested, eager to dive into the fun.
We made our way to the panipuri shop and indulged in the spicy, tangy treats, the flavors bursting in our mouths. Each bite was a delight, and we laughed, reminiscing about our school days as we enjoyed the food.
🌸
After a delightful evening, we returned to my house, still buzzing with excitement. We gathered in my room, waiting for Ishu to come back with popcorn from the kitchen. Once she arrived, we settled on the bed, tucking our legs under the duvet as we cozied up together.
"So, what should we watch?" Gauri asked, looking at us with a grin.
"Titanic!" Ishu immediately suggested.
Gauri and I groaned in unison, "No, not again!" Gauri added, "Nahi yaar... we've watched that a hundred times already. Let's go for something romantic but different."
"How about aashiqui?" I suggested with a smile.
"Nahi, mood thoda halka rakhte hain. No crying tonight," Ishu replied, and we burst into laughter.
Then, with a mischievous sparkle in her eye, Ishu said, "Okay, what about Fifty Shades of Grey?"
I looked at her, eyebrows raised. "What??? Noo..." I replied.
"Come on, Divu," Ishu insisted, nudging me with a playful grin. "It'll be fun, and it's perfect for a girls' night!"
Gauri jumped in, "Yeah, I've heard so much about it. This is our chance!"
I laughed, feeling my own curiosity rise. "Alright, fine! Let's watch it," I agreed, my excitement matching theirs. Secretly, I'd never seen it, so this would be a first for me.
I opened my laptop, searched for the movie, and finally pressed play. As the opening scenes started, we settled back with popcorn in hand, eagerly anticipating each scene. Throughout the movie, we laughed, teased each other, and blushed at some moments, making it a night filled with fun and friendship.
We were near the end of the movie when Gauri suddenly gasped, pointing her finger at me. "Div, what's that?" she asked, eyes wide.
I looked down, following her gaze, and realized she was staring at my mangalsutra. I froze, a mix of emotions flashing through me.
"This... um, it's nothing," I tried to brush it off, but I could see the curiosity in their eyes. They weren't going to let this go, and I knew I couldn't keep it from them anymore.
Taking a deep breath, I looked at both of them and said softly, "Actually... I'm married."
A stunned silence fell over the room. Ishu and Gauri exchanged shocked glances before their eyes returned to me, filled with questions.
Gauri and Ishu stared at me, their eyes wide with disbelief. For a moment, none of us spoke, they tried to process what I'd just said.
Finally, Ishu broke the silence. "You... you're married? When? How? And why didn't you tell us?!"
I replied calmly but I was hell nervous "It happened suddenly... and unexpectedly, ..It wasn't something I planned"
Gauri said "how can you marry yaar..that too without inviting or informing us??"
I told them the whole thing which happened from that night to the Di's wedding.
🌸
We finished the movie, and I set the laptop aside. Glancing at the clock, I noticed it was already 2:30 in the morning. Yet, not one of us felt the slightest bit sleepy.
Sitting in a cozy circle, we began chatting about everything and anything. Ishu leaned forward, her eyes twinkling. "You know, I developed this huge crush on a guy at riti Di's wedding," she confessed, her cheeks blushing slightly.
"Oh, really?" I teased, leaning in. "And what's his name?"
"Vivaan," she replied, a dreamy look on her face.
"Ohhh, not bad! You found out his name too," I laughed, nudging her.
Gauri joined in, grinning. "So, did you try talking to him?"
Ishu shrugged, trying to act casual. "Well, we exchanged a few words, but it was just... formal."
Gauri snickered. "What did you expect, Ishu? A kiss on the first meet?.."
We all burst into laughter, Ishu playfully smacking Gauri's arm, cheeks flushed. "Shut up, guys!"
Then, Ishu's eyes narrowed playfully at me. "Speaking of kisses... Div, tell us, have you and jiju kissed yet?"
Their curious gazes pinned me in place, and I felt my face heat up. "Come on, don't put me on the spot like this!" I tried to laugh it off, avoiding their eyes.
Gauri raised a brow, smirking. "Ohh, that means something definitely happened..."
Ishu leaned in closer, her voice low and teasing. "So, did he pull you close, his fingers tracing along your jaw, and kiss you deeply?"
I felt my cheeks burn even more. "Stop it, you two! I'm not saying anything!" I stammered, covering my face, but their giggles and teasing didn't stop. We laughed and continued talking, filling the night with secrets, blushes, and unbreakable friendship.
Ishu and Gauri exchanged knowing glances, and Ishu, barely able to contain her excitement, leaned forward. "Come on, Divu. Spill it. Has he... taken things further?" Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she waggled her eyebrows.
My face must have turned every shade of red as I stammered, "W-what? No, it's... I mean... it's not like that!"
"Oh please, that blush says more than words," Gauri grinned, nudging me playfully. "I bet he's swept you off your feet, held you close, whispered in your ear..." She trailed off, smirking.
Ishu giggled, leaning in even closer. "And then? What about when it's just the two of you? Has he... let's say, explored a little?" She shot me a cheeky wink, barely able to hide her laughter.
I couldn't help but laugh and hide my face in embarrassment. "Stop, you two!" I protested, but my heart raced at the thought of their teasing questions.
"Come on, Divu, be honest!" Gauri said, her voice dripping with amusement. "What's the harm in a little fun between... husband and wife?"
"Fine, fine!" I gave in, laughing. "Maybe there's been a little more than just hand-holding." I looked away, biting my lip.
Ishu squealed, clapping her hands together. "Knew it! Well, we demand details!"
I shook my head, still laughing as I tried to fend them off. "Sorry, ladies, those are my secrets!"
With popcorn scattered and laughter filling the room, the teasing continued late into the night, each playful comment bringing a new wave of giggles. We stayed up, sharing everything and teasing each other endlessly, until we finally fell asleep, still laughing over all the silly secrets and dreams we had just shared.
🦋
It was 10 in the morning, and I was sitting on the kitchen counter, my legs dangling as I watched Maa tirelessly working. Di and Jiju had landed and would be here any minute, but Maa was still bustling around, adding more to an already full menu.
"Maa, why are you chopping more onions? The food's already done, isn't it?" I asked, hoping she'd take a break.
"Pakode banane hai," she replied, focused on her work, her knife swiftly moving through the onions.
I sighed, glancing around at the spread she'd already prepared. "Maa... there's dahi vade, jalebi, bread pakoda, samosa-all this, and now more?"
She shot me a look, a little exasperated but determined. "Tum chup raho. Damad ji pehli baar ghar aa rahe hain... sab kuch perfect hona chahiye!"
I held up my hands in surrender. "Theek hai, theek hai. I'm not saying anything more." I hopped off the counter, deciding to let her work in peace.
Just then, my phone pinged with a message from Di saying they were five minutes away. Quickly, I washed my hands, tidied up, and felt a rush of excitement. The house was filled with delicious aromas, and Maa's warmth and enthusiasm were contagious.
Finally, the doorbell rang. Maa and I exchanged grins-it was time to welcome them properly.
As I opened the door, I was greeted by the sight of Di and Jiju. Di looked stunning, draped in a red saree that glowed in the morning light, adorned with delicate jewelry. I quickly stepped forward, hugging her warmly, savoring the familiar comfort of her embrace. She pulled back, and I watched as she and Jiju bent down to touch Maa and Papa's feet, exchanging heartfelt greetings.
As I closed the door, I saw him-standing there, looking at me with a gaze so intense, it sent a rush of warmth through me. In that moment, nothing else mattered. Without a word, I stepped into his arms, feeling his strong embrace tighten around me. His warmth, the scent I'd missed, his familiar hold-it was everything I'd craved for so long.
He pulled me closer, burying his face in my neck, and I felt his breath against my skin. The warmth of his body, the strength in his arms-it was overwhelming. He whispered softly, "How are you, biwi?" His voice was tender, a soft murmur that sent shivers through me.
For a moment, I forgot everything. I was where I'd wanted to be, in the arms I'd been longing for, surrounded by the warmth I needed. Time seemed to stop as we held each other, lost in the depth of a silent connection that said more than words ever could.
Just then, a voice broke the moment: "Sir, ye kaha rakhna hai?" I pulled away suddenly, my heart racing as reality rushed back. We were standing at the door, exposed to anyone who might look our way. I turned to see my parents sitting with their backs to us, blissfully unaware, while Di and Jiju were off to the side, their eyes fixed on something else.
He quickly instructed the driver, "Keep it inside," his tone shifting to one of authority. I watched as the driver nodded and headed inside with the bags. In that instant, I noticed a change in him-his demeanor grew cold and serious, a stark contrast to the warmth we had just shared.
He settled onto the sofa, and I took the seat beside him, the only space available. Papa looked over with a smile and said, "I'm so glad you could join us, Aarav! I thought only Riti and abhimaan would be here, so I didn't wait for you."
Aarav smiled slightly and replied,
"Uncle, I'm actually in Delhi for some important work. I had planned to head straight to the office, but Bhabhi insisted I come along."
"Well, I'm really happy you came," Papa said warmly, his face lighting up.
🌸
It was already 9 PM, and Di and Maa were setting the dining table. He still hadn't returned from the office, and I found myself glancing at the clock every few minutes.
He'd initially resisted the idea of staying here, preferring a hotel until his new apartment was ready, but after a little more persuasion from Maa, Papa, and perhaps even a hopeful look from me, he'd finally agreed. The thought of him being in Delhi for the next few months made me quietly happy, and the house felt warmer with everyone together.
Di would be here for two weeks, though Jiju would need to leave the day after tomorrow, planning to come back to pick her up. It felt comforting, knowing we'd have family around, filling the house with laughter and familiar voices.
Just then, Maa stepped into the kitchen, her voice pulling me back to the present. "Beta, go call everyone for dinner." I nodded, finding Adi, who quickly gathered everyone to the table.
I moved around the dining table, making sure everyone had what they needed. "Maa, please sit. I'll serve," I said softly, urging my mother to relax.
I carefully filled everyone's plates, once I was done, I found myself standing there, not quite ready to sit. I kept glancing at the door, hoping he would walk through it any moment.
Papa noticed I was still standing and smiled, his voice warm. "Divya, why are you still standing? Sit and eat"
I smiled back, trying to cover up the restlessness I was feeling inside. I nodded and sat on the table.
🌸
Everyone finished their dinner, and as we began clearing the table, Maa looked over at Adi with a gentle smile.
"Adi, you'll sleep in my room tonight," she said.
He frowned, a little confused. "Why, Maa?"
"Aree, Abhimaan and Aarav will stay in your room," she explained patiently. "And Riti and Divya will share the other one."
"Oh, okay," he replied, a hint of reluctance in his tone, but he quickly agreed.

Di and I were chatting when I heard a knock at the door. I opened it, and before I could even process what happened, I was lifted off the ground. My body was suddenly pressed against his, and he moved quickly toward the next room.
As we reached the room, he slammed the door shut with his foot, locking it, and gently but firmly pushed me onto the bed. My heart raced as he got up to close the curtains. Then, in one swift motion, he shed his blazer and began unbuttoning the top of his shirt.
